Legendary TV quiz show A Question of Sport is coming to Birmingham as part of a live stage tour to celebrate 40 years on air. The television quiz A Question of Sport first aired on 5 January 1970. The Radio Times promised "50 years of world sporting action on film, 50 of our greatest sporting stars - in the studio during the series". Presenter David Vine introduced team captains Henry Cooper and Cliff Morgan. Guest panellists on the first edition were George Best, Ray Illingworth, Lillian Board and Tom Finney. Ex-England cricketer and resident team captain Phil Tufnell said that it was an ‘exciting time’ for the UK’s longest running sports show and admitted that he cannot wait for it to get up and running. The show will largely follow the small-screen format but will also become interactive in a live environment, giving fans the chance to take part.
